Last year when Amber told me that painting small is one language and painting big is another and that I can’t expect to translate the small skills into big ones easily. I rolled my eyes and didn’t really believe her. Once again my ego has deceived me into complacency. Painting big IS a different language, but I am committed to relearn it.
This morning I got my first glimpse at a winter sunrise (the best kind) and the colours gave me a go-ahead to salvage what was not a very successful painting thus far – so much so that I didn’t even photograph it because I didn’t wanna look at it.
There’s still quite a way to go with this one before I will consider it “finished” but I am quite pleased with what I have so far. I’ve found that if I turn it upside down and put a small shape where the light yellow is it would look back lit and isolated which might give me the effect that I’m after.
I’ll get back to you with how that goes…
