Thesis Plan/Chapters?

“The Colour of Consciousness: an exploration of liminal spaces in the everyday and abstraction through paint.”

How can I build a visual language around the nature of liminal spaces — from my everyday — that values the affects these spaces invoke?

How can a painting practice translate sensations into images comprising abstract shapes, textures and colour relationships?

Chapter one: Optics – Why bright colours? What impact does colour have on this project? The after image and the subconscious? How does colour impact movement and speed? What affective output do my colour choices have – is it aligned with what i want?

Chapter Two: Games and Play – How does Games and Systems impact my methods of making? What does the inclusion of chance do to the paintings? How does creating a set of steps/ routines help me build a visual language? What does it free up to think about? Put the Zodiac Research Wheel here!

Chapter Three: Shape – Figure/Ground relationships. The frame within the Frame. How does composition change the speed of my paintings?

Chapter Four: Inside and Outside (the mind and the body) Why is Liminality so sticky to me? What draws me to this again and again? What is the role of escapism in my search for the liminal? Where do I go when I’m experiencing the liminal? How does painting capture the liminal?
